Meghan Markle had a fitting code name for Prince Harry prior to going public with their romance. Wendell Pierce, who played her dad on Suits, revealed to Harry Connick Jr. during an interview on Harry that Meghan used to discuss Prince Harry on set by referring to “London”
“She met this nice guy and we always talked about him in code really,” Pierce shared. “You know, ‘How you doing?’ ‘Oh, I’m going to London, coming from London, whatever.'”
Meghan was introduced to the royal by mutual friend Violet von Westenholz. As previously reported, Violet, who works in fashion PR, is Prince Harry’s childhood friend and one of his closest confidants. After Harry confided in Violet about being single, she set him up with Meghan. The pair announced their engagement on November 27, 2017, after first connecting in July 2016.
“I had a really wonderful moment as we were coming to an end of her time on the show,” Pierce added to Harry Connick Jr. during their interview. “It was just she and I in the room and I said, ‘I know your life is going to change but always know, no matter where you are, I will always be your loving fake father.'”
Meghan and Harry are set to tie the knot in May 2018.
