Camila Cabello on Wanting to Kiss Nick Jonas on NYE: ‘Next Time!’

Camila Cabello is on fire! The songstress, whose debut album Camila broke chart records on January 12, stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, January 18, and dished on everything from wanting to kiss Nick Jonas on NYE to which songs she had second thoughts about releasing.

Camila performed her global hit “Havana” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest and while counting down the new year with Ryan and fellow performers including Nick Jonas, she revealed she contemplated giving Nick a smooch.

“Nick was next to me and I was like, ‘OMG this is so beautiful!’” Camila recalled to Ryan on-air. “It’s so funny because after I said [I wanted to kiss Nick] there was like this GIF on Twitter where I’m like looking over at him and smiling and I’m like 'Oh, okay, never mind!’"

"I just thought it would be funny,” she added. “Next time!”

While she may have missed out on a midnight kiss, Camila is already crushing 2018 with her debut album -- but she didn't exactly go into her solo career without bumps in the road.

After going through a breakup with band members Fifth Harmony and branching out on her own, Camila admitted that she got unique advice from her mother to “expect the worse."

“You can never do stuff expecting it to be really successful," Camila told Ryan of her mom's unique advice. "If that's the reason why you’re doing it, you might as well not do it because you will probably be disappointed. She just told me if you want to do this, then expect the worst possible scenario and if you still want to do it — and the worst possible scenario being everyone is upset with me and my music isn’t successful and it’s like starting from scratch all over again — she was like if you’re fine with all those circumstances and you’re still going to be happy, then do it and I was like 'Yeah, hell yeah!'”

As for which songs Camila had second thoughts about?

"There’s a couple songs: 'Consequences,' 'Into It,'  'Inside Out' -- there was a couple of songs because there were so many. There were like 30 songs [that didn’t make it].”
