Long before he was playing Clint Barton / Hawkeye or Aaron Cross, Jeremy Renner was just a kid growing up in Modesto, California.
The Wind River actor — who plays US Fish and Wildlife Service agent Cory Lambert in the Wyoming-set mystery — recalled to On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, August 3, his childhood growing up in a small community.
“It was a great place to grow up because the community,” Renner said. “I was a latchkey kid so I could do whatever the heck I wanted growing up.”
A “latchkey kid” is a term for a child who returns from school to an empty home because their parent or parents are away at work, thus leaving the child with little to no parental supervision.
Jenner said he would 100 percent take advantage of having no rules at home, immediately crushing sweets like “Ho Hos, Ding Dong cupcakes and Twinkies” after school.
“I’d make it home before my sister did … so I wouldn’t have to compete with her [for snacks]. But I always did my homework.”
