Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey are teaming up for their North American All The Hits tour, which was originally scheduled to begin back in March but had to be delayed due to Richie’s surgery for a torn meniscus.
Richie is fully recovered now and ready to hit the road. The 22-date trek kicks off July 21 in Oakland at Oracle Arena, and will run through Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Chicago, and more major cities before concluding on September 5 at the KeyArena in Seattle.
Concert-goers are in for a real treat as Richie works his way through his catalog of hits. “What they don’t know is that I plan to have them perform in my show and when I say that I don’t do anything but start the songs off and then they take over,” he told On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday.
"So when I’m exhausted going out the back door, they’re hoarse and exhausted going out the front door. That means it was a fabulous show," Richie says. "The part that I love the most is when people come to the show as single, like couples, they leave hugging people around them, crying on people’s shoulders -- It’s pretty fascinating."
Richie and Carey's All the Hits tour will arrive at the Hollywood Bowl on July 31. Tickets for all the dates are on sale now at LiveNation.com.
Recently rumors have been swirling that Richie is being eyed to join Katy Perry on the judging panel of the American Idol reboot.
"Chemistry is everything,” Richie says. “If it happens, I’m going to be the guy that goes ‘that’s not how it works.’ But it’s something that I’m really toying around with."
