Joey McIntyre of New Kids On The Block will star in a scripted, eight-episode comedy series inspired by his life. Called Return of the Mac, the Pop TV show will center on McIntyre as he attempts to build a career as an actor following his boy-band past.
The show, which he is producing and co-writing, will also star his wife of 13 years Barrett, and their three kids Griffin, 9, Rhys, 7, and Kira, 5. McIntyre joined On Air with Ryan Seacrest in-studio on Friday to detail the half-hour comedy in which he plays a fictionalized version of himself.
"I'm playing a crazy version of myself. I like to think I'm not as desperate as the character I play," he told On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday. "I had to play the butt of the joke."
Return of the Mac airs Wednesdays at 8:30/7:30c on Pop TV.
