World-conquering band Coldplay was presented with the best tour award at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards for their ongoing A Head Full of Dreams trek, which is scheduled to run until October 2017.
Frontman Chris Martin accepted the award on the band's behalf and had three kids read their self-deprecating acceptance speech. A little girl stood on a chair and read a letter that applauded the band's makeup team and named dropped One Direction, while Martin reacted quietly to the adorable moment in the background.
“Hello, we are Coldplay. Thank you so much for this award. We love our job and we love our fans," the little girl read. "The three of us are still looking good and feeling great. You wouldn't believe it, but we are in our late 30s. If it wasn’t for our makeup team and stylists and this one weird-looking guy (pointing to Martin), we would give One Direction some competition."
She concluded: "Anyway, we love you and we are very grateful. Thank you, and now we are going to party hard!"
The kids made their first onstage appearance dressed as laborers during Katy Perry's opening "Chained To The Rhythm" performance. The awards ceremony, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, also saw performances by Ed Sheeran, Big Sean, Noah Cyrus, Shawn Mendes, Bruno Mars -- who accepted the innovator award -- and others.
