Once the 89th Academy Awards wraps up on February 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the Oscar winners and nominees will congregate at the Ray Dolby Ballroom for the official post-Oscars afterparty dinner: The Governor's Ball.
Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck will cater the fancy party -- themed "magical transformation" -- for the 23rd consecutive year. Puck's traditional specialties will be featured on the menu, along with this year's new samples: gold-dusted popcorn, sweet pea falafel, taro root tacos with shrimp and mango, spice gougeres with black truffle dust, lobster corn dogs, and parsnip agnolotti.
"When people come out [of the Oscars], they can get a little Piper-Heidsieck champagne and then sushi, a little seafood, then we have our little mini burgers," Puck teased to On Air with Ryan Seacrest via FaceTime on Thursday. "At the end of the night, everybody is going to get a chocolate Oscar that's boxed up already...Everybody's going to be a winner going home."
A large order of 3,500 miso tuile cones, 15 pounds of truffles, 350 pounds of Atlantic tuna, 7,500 shrimp, 2,375 pretzels, 4,250 pieces of handmade gnoccetti, and 150 pounds of arugula was placed ahead of the awards show to accommodate 1,500 expected guests. Any leftovers will be donated to the the soup kitchen in Downtown Los Angeles.
