After rumors of a Selena Gomez and Kygo collaboration dominated social media when a track entitled, "It Ain't Me," featuring the pop star's name was registered with ASCAP earlier this week, she perpetuated new music speculations by sharing a sneak peek via Instagram Story Friday afternoon.
Gomez shared a black-and-white video of herself with a drawn-on "X" over mouth, while a snippet of her new track plays in the background. "I had a dream we were back, just 17, summer nights, my libertines, never growing up," she sings over tropical beats.
According to a screenshot of the song's registration form, it was co-written by Kygo and the trio behind DJ Snake and Justin Bieber's "Let Me Love You" -- Brian Lee, Ali Tamposi, and Andrew Watt. The song, which Internet sleuths believe is about her ex-boyfriend Bieber who she met when she was 17 -- is expected to appear on the follow-up to 2015's Revival.
Last June, Gomez tweeted a picture of herself and her team with the accompanying announcement, "After a few weeks in the studio bus [it's] safe to say.. we are VERY close to album #2 #SG2."
The singer, who did not provide an official release date for the album, took a break from music last August and checked into rehab for three months to battle the side effects of her lupus diagnosis, which includes "anxiety, panic, attacks, and depression."
