Reese Witherspoon created a pop culture icon with Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, but there was at least one scene where the sorority president-turned promising lawyer was played by somebody else.
The actress appeared on the September 17 episode of the Las Culturistas podcast where she revealed a surprising secret about the opening sequence of the beloved 2001 film. Before viewers ever officially meet Elle, we see her brushing her long blonde hair and getting ready for a big date interspersed with scenes of her sorority sisters around the Delta Nu house. However, according to Witherspoon, the hands viewers see wielding the brush aren't really hers.
"I can't even watch the beginning of the movie because they replace my hands with somebody else's hands and I can't look at it. And that's just my little inside scoop," she said, adding that she doesn't like hand doubles that "don't look human." In fact, it's had a lasting impact on subsequent projects. "I spend a lot of time picking feet doubles," she said, laughing.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Morning Show star opened up about the impact of watching The First Wives Club, shared her take on the "Oscars curse" and even did an impression of her Big Little Lies costar Nicole Kidman.
On Las Culturistas, Rogers and Yang "get into the hottest pop-culture moments of the day" and even hang out with special guests like Sarah Jessica Parker, Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande, to name a few. Check out more episodes of the Las Culturistas podcast at iHeart.com.
