Bowen Yang is no stranger to celebrity impersonations and bringing funny characters to life on Saturday Night Live, but there is one role that he would prefer not to have.

During a recent appearance on The Daily Show, the Las Culturistas podcast host explained that he isn't too excited about playing Vice President J.D. Vance on the long-running sketch comedy show and has even begged SNL creator Lorne Michaels to find someone else to portray the politician, per People.

"Lorne asked me and I said, 'Please, please, please don't make me do this,'" he said, adding, "First of all — God's honest truth, I really do my best with him, but every time I have to play him, I go to Lorne and I say, 'You can do a buyback. You don't have to stick with me. Please reach out to Zach Galifianakis. Please reach out to Taran Killam.' But, no, that's my charge."

Despite his reservations, the Wicked actor takes his impression so seriously that he even hired an accent coach to help him to nail Vance's voice and "find the middle between Appalachian but Ohio" because he didn't want to "screw this up" knowing how many people were going to have opinions on his impersonation.

"I have such an uphill battle here," Yang said. "Everyone in America is going to be like, 'This Asian guy is playing that guy?' I was like, 'I really got to nail this down.' And I'm just telling you guys, I'm doing my best, okay?"
