The "best actress of all time" not only embodies the title, but absolutely owns it.

This timeless entertainer is synonymous with cinematic masterpieces including The Devil Wears Prada, Mamma Mia, The Bridges of Madison County, Julie & Julia, and classics Death Becomes Her, Sophie's Choice, and Kramer vs. Kramer to name only a few blockbusters.

Known for her versatile acting style and unmatched commitment to characters, this Hollywood actress once said, "There's no such thing as the greatest living actress," despite being voted such. The silver screen sensation has not only fronted a slew of award-winning motion pictures over the last six decades, but is a mother to four children, Henry, Mamie, Grace and Louisa, all of whom she shares with ex-husband Don Gummer (per Elle).

So who exactly is the greatest actress in film history?

According to a list compiled by The Top Tens, the best actress of all time is Meryl Streep.

Other famous actresses that made the list include Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson, Angelina Jolie, and Jodie Foster to round out the top five.
