Ben Affleck made a surprise appearance at a Netflix event in Los Angeles on Wednesday (January 29), where he revealed new details about an upcoming thriller he's working on with longtime friend Matt Damon and a slew of other stars.

According to People, the Argo standout delivered a speech at the 2025 Next on Netflix Special Presentation, gifting the world a sneak peek of highly-anticipated crime thriller RIP, staring himself, "Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino, Néstor Carbonell and Kyle Chandler."

"This movie takes a look at the things people will do for money," he told the audience, referring to the film as a "really fun, engaging ride that keeps you guessing. It’s a compelling, complicated human drama that also hues to these elements of cinema that people have loved forever."

The upcoming thriller was directed by Joe Carnahan and produced by Affleck and Damon's company, Artist Equity. The beloved actor assured that this is the exact "kind of film" the company hopes to "champion."

"It’s the seventh movie that Matt Damon and my company, Artists Equity, has made, and it really is in a lot of ways the most important for us because we’ve found some really exciting partners who are really interested in not just what has been but what could be at Netflix. This is exactly the kind of film that we want to champion."

While an official RIP release date has yet to be announced, thriller fanatics can expect the film to debut on Netflix sometime this year.
