If you're single and a Swiftie, watch out for "Swiftfishing" on dating apps.
Fellow single Swifties are sharing the PSA after coming across bios like “Not not down for T. Swift concert.” Hannah, who shared the story on Elite Daily, continued they hit it off, but then, sadly, as most online dating goes, the first date didn't make it outside the app. And, as you've now guessed, he wasn't a real Swiftie.
With the songstress now in the eyes of NFL viewers, even Tinder shared the number of U.S. users talking about Taylor Swift on their profiles has grown 44% since February.
Another fan on TikTok shared the same warning after watching an episode of Bachelor In Paradise.
“This guy... he’s going on and on about how he’s a Swiftie. You know when you can just tell a guy is not a good guy? ... He’s just saying this so that women hear him saying this,” she said in a video on her account. “I think a lot of men are using [Swiftiedom] to get the women... If a man says they’re a Swiftie, quiz their ass.” The video gained tons of comments with @izzypond confirming “I call it swiftfishing.”
So, what can you do? Quiz them! Trust your gut. And who knows, maybe they might not be an actual Swiftie at first, but still could be a great first date and worth a shot if they aren't laying it on too thick. Plus, bonus if they'll watch the Eras Tour film with you!
