Ed Sheeran is back with a brand new album, Subtract, and a brand new outlook on life after a tumultuous year with his wife beating cancer and, most recently, Sheeran winning a big lawsuit.
Subtract is the 5th studio album from Sheeran and a new, honest raw sound for the Grammy winner.
Cherry, his wife, was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant with their daughter Jupiter. Thankfully, at the end of 2022, the mother of now two was told by doctors the tumor hadn't returned.
"I'm loving that the record is out," Sheeran told Ryan Seacrest. "People are connecting with it like nothing I've ever put out before. I sort of put myself out on a line," Sheeran added, revealing the tracks were also influenced by the passing of his friend. "I didn't know if I wanted to release these."
That said, Sheeran is happy that fans can also relate to the tracks.
"It's a different feeling. It's an album that people will have for certain things. ... As life goes on, my lens is getting clearer."
