Justin Bieber Reveals He's Close To Finishing His New Album

Justin Bieber is nearly ready to embark on his next music era.

ā€œFinishing this album. Stay tuned,ā€ the 26-year-old singer-songwriter wrote Thursday (January 21) with a picture of him laying down vocals in the booth in an Instagram Story, teasing his millions of followers that his follow-up to last yearā€™s Changes is on the horizon.

Of course, this isnā€™t Bieberā€™s first time teasing his next record. He kicked off the new year by releasing a brand-new single, titled ā€œAnyone,ā€ on New Yearā€™s Day, accompanying its arrival with a Rocky-inspired music video starring actress Zoey Deutch. But prior to that, the Biebs unveiled not one, but two records before wrapping up 2020, including the gospel pop track ā€œHolyā€ featuring Chance the Rapper and the Benny Blanco- and FINNEAS-produced ballad, ā€œLonely.ā€

All three records are the latest offerings weā€™ve received from the Canadian crooner since he delivered his number-one studio album, Changes, in February 2020. Bieberā€™s fifth studio album, released by Def Jam Recordings, debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, pushing 231,000 album-equivalent units.

The record, which sees Bieber merging into R&B terrain, garnered the recording artist several nominations at this yearā€™s Grammys, including Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for the LPā€™s leader, ā€œYummy.ā€ Despite this, Bieber was not especially satisfied with Changesā€™ placement in pop categories instead of R&B ā€” and he respectfully vocalized his disappointment on Instagram.

ā€œTo the Grammys I am flattered to be acknowledged and appreciated for my artistry. I am very meticulous and intentional about my music,ā€ he expressed at the time. ā€œWith that being said I set out to make an R&B album. Changes was and is an R&B album. It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me.ā€
