So I've decided to make a big change in my life. I recently opened up on my podcast, Scrubbing In With Becca Tilley & Tanya Rad, about how I've suffered my entire life with chronic UTI's. I get them ALL THE TIME. And my doctor always just said "some women are just more prone" and would just write me a prescription.
I decided I wasn't going to do this anymore.
Little did I know opening up about this that SO MANY women would reach out and share with me they have the exact same troubles & offered different remedies that helped them.
The common thread in all this was something bigger than I realized: my use of non-clean products.
I eat super clean and organic but when it comes to my house supplies everything is toxic. Also, my skin would itch all the time and I just thought I had sensitive skin, but come to find out I think it’s my laundry detergent, fabric softeners and dryer sheets.
WHO KNEW DRYER SHEETS WERE LIKE SO TOXIC? I had no clue! I'd been using them like CANDY! I would literally throw multiple in each load ... eek!
So I’ve decided to make a change -- but slowly because it’s a little overwhelming when you think about how much you need to switch out.
I’m starting with using only clean laundry soap and I’m using wool balls in the dryer and putting essential oil on them to freshen the scent instead of dryer sheets.
I’m going to do this in phases as to not overwhelm myself.
Phase 1 is anything that goes on my body:
PHASE 2 IS SUPPLEMENTS:
I take a lot of daily supplements so I’m going to do a deep dive into those & making sure I’m using organic products.
PHASE 3 IS CLEANING SUPPLIES:
I have an ENTIRE drawer of cleaning supplies that are SUPER toxic. So that’s going to be quite a challenge to get through.
I’m leaning on my friend and clean living expert Lauren Scruggs through this entire thing. She has done so much research on all of this & has the greatest suggestions for products & how to really cleanup your life.
