The massive $2 trillion stimulus bill will help out many Americans in need including many of those on the support side of music industry who rely on live music to pay the bills like roadies, sound engineers and so many other professionals.
Many of those people are typically not allowed to file for unemployment as they are considered independent contractors.
But music industry lobbyists pleaded with Senators to make sure these people were considered in the stimulus package and it happened.
Recording Industry Association of America chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier says:
"Access to this expanded unemployment insurance will ensure that hundreds of thousands of musicians' families across the country can continue to pay rent, put food on the table, and care for their children during this public health crisis.”
