Cleanliness is everything right now. Of course, having a clean home should always be a priority, but life sometimes gets in the way of our best intentions. Since everyone is self-quarantining given the health crisis we’re facing, there's literally no excuse why you shouldn't be using this time of isolation to be productive — starting with some much-needed spring cleaning!

With that, here are some easily overlooked cleaning projects you can check off your list while you’re stuck inside.

1. Closet

When’s the last time you cleaned out your closet? One minute you’re opening the door to reach for that one coat and next thing you know four other hangers come crashing down. Not to mention the dirt crumbs accumulating on the floor after months of weathering the snow. I think we’re all a little guilty of this, so let’s give the closet space some much-needed attention.

2. Refrigerator

Oh boy. We’ve all experienced the horror of overlooking that neglected Tupperware container of last month’s leftovers from dinner. And don’t get us started on that suspicious brown liquid pooling at the bottom of the crisper drawer.

Wait a minute, is that bag of raw chicken thawing on the top shelf?! Grab those gloves, get the bucket of soap water and let’s get scrubbing!

(If you're wondering, yes, you should should be cleaning the entire kitchen in general.)

3. Bedroom

Now is not the time to let the most sacred space in your home get messy. Your bedroom is your sanctuary, and honestly, the best escape you have from the outside world. It’s time to clean — really clean —those bags of dirty laundry you’ve been hiding in your closet, organize or throw out the junk mail piling on your desk, and sweep or vacuum every nook and cranny of this space. Trust us, you’ll feel so much better when you do.

4. Bathroom

Okay, okay. So this is probably the grossest chore of them all but how much longer are you going to neglect the guck building up on those shower walls? That toilet could also use some scrub love too. And take it from us, no one wants to see your mirror selfie if the mirror itself is dirty, especially during times like these.

5. Pets

Those fur babies need love too! If you happen to be one of the lucky ones with a furry friend, chances are your furniture — and theirs — is already covered in hair. It's that time of the year when our pets are shedding their winter coats — some more drastically than others — so consider those lint rollers and the vacuum your new best friends. Not to mention, your caged pets will surely thank you for keeping their ecosystem tidy too.

6. Dusting

Swipe your finger across any high surface of your home and you'd be scarily surprised by how much dust built-up you might find. Dusting isn't the most popular household cleaning project, but it's incredibly important for your respiratory health to keep your home as dust-free as possible.

7. Laundry

Remember what we said about those dirty bags of clothes you've been stowing in your closet? Now's the time to get it done, and it honestly it's the most hassle-free task on the list. Just make a few trips to your laundry room, throw in a load of clothes while you're doing other chores, and you'll have fresh, clean clothes sooner than you know it. Easy, eh?
