Chrissy Teigen knows how to barter!

The model and her husband John Legend found themselves in desperate need for lettuce this week with all the panic food buying going on in Los Angeles amid the coronavirus pandemic. So the 34-year-old mommy of two took to Twitter with an offer one fan couldn’t refuse. “I’ll make a banana bread for anyone that has romaine lettuce,” Teigen tweeted. “The trade will be made 6 feet apart and we will place the goods on the floor. no funny business.”

Answering the call, Twitter user and YouTube comedian Chris Klemens wrote back, “I have three studio city,” along with a picture of him posing beside the leafy greens.

Needless to say, it was a deal.

While en route to the meet-up spot, Teigen got on video to share the specifics of the trade: "A deal is about to go down; banana bread, two pieces of pie, a bottle of wine all for three [lettuces]…”

Not long after, Legend and Teigen met with Klemens and another person at a car park to exchange the goods — but without physical contact as both parties traded the goods using a toy car. Afterward, Teigen shared a social distance-appropriate “group photo” with the pair, captioning it, "It was so hard not to hug you both.”

See the exchange below.

Last week, California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered a lockdown that requires all California residents to stay home until further notice, except as needed for essential activities, in an effort to lessen chances of spreading the novel coronavirus. As of March 25, California has over 2,600 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 55 deaths related to the disease.
