Post Malone Says He Gets Face Tattoos Because He Thinks He's Ugly

Turns out, Post Malone's reason for getting a face full of tattoos stems from his self-esteem issues.

In his recently released GQ Style cover story, the 24-year-old artist opened up about his many face tats, explaining that his decision to get them comes down to the fact that they make him feel better about himself.

“I'm a ugly-a** motherf**ker,” Post told the mag, suggesting that his face tattoos might be a defensive strategy. "It does maybe come from a place of insecurity, to where I don't like how I look, so I'm going to put something cool on there so I can look at myself and say, ‘You look cool, kid,’ and have a modicum of self-confidence, when it comes to my appearance."

As fans know, Posty has become known for his many face tattoos. He recently added to his already extensive collection, getting a bloody buzzsaw and a medieval gauntlet holding a flail to his cheek.

Posty also opened up about his mental health, telling GQ Style: “Middle school, I would cry myself to sleep every f**kin' day. High school, the same thing. I tried to drink some beers to get rid of that sh*t, but it just never goes away. And I don't think that's anybody's fault; it has to do with something predisposed in you.”

While he admitted that his mental health is a work in progress, he said he knows the risks of self-medication, noting the death of his musical peers Mac Miller, in 2018, Lil Peep, in 2017, and Juice WRLD, this past December. “That could have been me,” Post admitted. But when asked whether he was getting help for his own mental health problems, he was vague, saying, “I am, now—I'm trying. It's difficult. Through my songs, I can talk about whatever I want. But sitting here, face-to-face, it's difficult.”
