A lot of critics claim Billie Eilish has rocketed to fame largely because she wasn’t afraid of breaking all the rules of pop stardom.
Making music and styling herself on her own terms, while Billie does do that it’s actually more about following her creative instincts than being a rebel.
"This whole time I’ve been getting this one sentence," Billie tells Vogue, "Like, I’m a rule-breaker. Or I’m anti-pop, or whatever. I’m flattered that people think that, but it’s like, where, though? What rule did I break? The rule about making classic pop music and dressing like a girly girl? I never said I’m not going to do that. I just didn’t do it."
"I never knew there was a thing I had to follow. Nobody told me that...so I did what I wanted," she adds.
Billie also notes in the interview she has been recording new music, so while it might be some time before she releases a new album the process has at least begun.
