Every successful singer or rapper has those artists they grew up on that inspired and motivated them to become stars in their own right.
For UK R&B sensation Ella Mai that artist was unequivocally Beyoncé.
Well, Ella was just invited to a star-studded brunch thrown by Jay Z’s Roc Nation earlier in the month and when Beyoncé walked in she summoned the courage to approach her idol and couldn’t believe it when Beyoncé beat her to the punch.
"I went to go and introduce myself and she saw me," she tells Billboard. "She saw me and started smiling and I was like, wait…She was really, really sweet. She told me to keep going and congratulations on all my success and that she loves me…To be able to have that moment with someone that I grew up looking up to and I still look up to, I'm so inspired by her. It was just a great, great feeling."
Ella also adds that she is busy at work on her second album, so her fans (Beyoncé included) can expect new music soon.
