Taika Waititi in Talks to Direct New 'Star Wars' Film

Star Wars fans are having a bit of a crisis as the smash Disney+ show The Mandalorian just aired its season finale and the final film in the latest trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker signaled an end of scheduled films on the release calendar after several projects were cancelled or put on hold.

But it appears that all hope is not lost in a galaxy far far away, because director Taika Waititi is in discussions to create a new Star Wars film.

Taika just directed Jojo Rabbit, which has picked up 6 Oscar nods including Best Picture, but perhaps more importantly he also helmed the season finale of The Mandalorian, which fans loved.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the only thing standing in the way is how hot Taika is as he’s got several other projects already in the works including his second Thor movie and a live action version of the legendary anime, Akira.
