As per fan shot footage, Mendes, 21, was asked during a fan Q&A if he's a a believer in signs from the universe and his response involved a short story about the former Fifth Harmony bandmate, 22. "I think that when you're going through something hard or trying to find the answer to a question, if you pay attention and calm down, usually the world will tell you," he told the crowd, before recalling a story that he said he never shared with the star.
"I remember there was a time before we started dating, where I was like, 'I don't know what I should do. I don't know if I should tell her how I feel or what I should do,'" he said. "I was driving down the street and right in the moment when I was like, 'Okay, I'm not going to tell her,' I passed a street that said, 'Camila.' I really believe in that stuff."
It's the latest in Mendes and Cabello's public display of affection journey after the two played flirty during last week's performance of "Señorita" at the 2019 American Music Awards and, of course, their celebration of their Grammy nomination for the summer hit in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
