Jon Favreau On Martin Scorsese & Francis Ford Coppola Hating 'Marvel' Films

Two of the most acclaimed directors of all time, Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola, both recently took the time to sound off about their disdain and borderline hatred of the Marvel film universe and superhero movies in general.

Scorsese claimed they are "not cinema." While Coppola took it a step further, saying Martin was kind in his criticism, because to him they are just utterly despicable.

Well director, writer and actor Jon Favreau, has a unique perspective because he’s been a part of critically acclaimed films like Swingers and Chef, as well as box office smashes like Iron Man 1 and 2.

When he was asked for his take on Scorsese and Coppola’s opinion on Marvel he took it all in stride.

He tells CNBC, "These two guys are my heroes, and they have earned the right to express their opinions. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing if they didn’t carve the way. They served as a source of inspiration, you can go all the way back to Swingers.”

Adding, "They can express whatever opinion they like."
