Meghan Trainor Admits How Conflicted She Was at the Beginning of Her Career

Meghan Trainor’s life was changed with her 2014 breakout single "All About That Bass," which meshed an undeniably infectious groove with body positivity.

A message that garnered her tons of praise, but Meghan just admitted that behind the scenes it was a very confusing time for her own self image.

She tells E! News' digital series Just the Sip:

"In my ‘All About That Bass' video from day one, they had me in a corset with Spanx on top. These are parts of the secrets we're not allowed to talk about. I've never had makeup on my eyebrows—like that's where I came from. I never had extensions. I never dyed my hair. In one week, I had a corset on every night before the video, I had dance lessons and I had hair extensions and I was like, ‘Who am I?'"

"I remember being like, ‘Isn't my whole thing about we don't have to change or morph our body?'" Meghan continued. "It was uncomfortable, scary, terrifying and awesome all at the same time because your dreams are coming true."

It took Meghan a long time to grow into her confidence and her husband Daryl Sabara played a huge part by constantly reminding her how naturally beautiful she is.

Meghan’s latest “Wave” featuring Mike Sabath is out now.
