Liam Payne Opens Up About How Being in One Direction Almost Killed Him

While all the guys in One Direction have expressed that leaving the band behind was something they had to do creatively, Liam Payne just confessed it was necessary for something far more important, his mental health and well-being.

"It was really scary at first, but I needed to stop, definitely. It would have killed me. One hundred percent," he tells Jessie Ware. "We were definitely overworked. I had no personal life, I learned nothing about myself. I remember getting to therapy and the guy was like, 'What do you like to do?' I haven't got a clue."

Liam added that it took a lot of work to get to where he is mentally today, but now that he has control over his career and time and a 2-year-old son to focus on he’s happier than ever.
