Katy Perry Drops Orlando Bloom-Inspired Single 'Harleys In Hawaii'

After a number of teasers, Katy Perry's "Harleys in Hawaii" has arrived, alongside an adventurous music video, on Wednesday (October 16).

Co-written by Perry, Charlie Puth, Johan Carlsson and Jacob Kasher Hindlin, the pop titan's newest track hears her channel island vibes and groove out to the relaxing offerings of the Aloha State. "You and I, I/ Ridin' Harleys in Hawaii-i-i/ I'm on the back, I'm holdin' tight, I/ Want you to take me for a ride, ride," she croons during the hook. Over on her Instagram, Perry made reference to the song's origin, writing, "What do you get when you rent a motorcycle for a weekend with your boyfriend in Hawaii? A love song of course."

The single follows Perry's sporadic rollout of 2019 singles, following "Never Really Over" and "Small Talk." She was also featured on Daddy Yankee's "Con Calma (Remix)" and Zedd's "365." Its accompanying clip was appropriately filmed in Hawaii and sees the star ride a Harley on a Hawaiian highway, with pit stops to a tiki bar, hotel and pool party. The video directed by Barcelona-based studio Manson.

In her interview with the Zach Sang Show, Perry recalled the moment that she decided she wanted to pen a song about the roadside adventure with her fiancé, Orlando Bloom. "To be on the back of a motorcycle in Hawaii with the air blowing on your face, it's so beautiful," she explained. "I can remember specifically where I was; the street corner I was on in Oahu, whispering to Orlando and saying 'I'm going to write a song called 'Harleys in Hawaii’. And I did. That’s something that will come at some point."
