Reese Witherspoon Is Being Honored for Something Besides Acting

Reese Witherspoon is going to be honored for her body of work in Hollywood, but not just for her cinematic achievements. It's for her incredible philanthropy as well.

She will receive the prestigious Sherry Lansing Award at the Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment gala surrounded by 600 of the most successful women in entertainment.

Sherry Lansing, if you don’t know, is a legendary film exec. The first woman to run a Hollywood movie studio, who’s pivoted mostly into incredibly impactful charity work.

The award that holds her name is given to other female Hollywood trailblazers and philanthropists like past recipients include Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters and Glenn Close.

Sherry herself is thrilled with Reese’s selection, adding: "We all know what an astonishing actress she is. But, equally important, she’s been a pioneer and role model for so many others — both women and men — in producing some of the best film and television in recent years, and in her extraordinary philanthropic endeavors, particularly in support of Time’s Up and Stand Up to Cancer."

Reese will receive the award on December 11th in Los Angeles.
