Why Starring in 'The Goldfinch' Was a Dream Come True for Willa Fitzgerald

Sometimes convincing big name actors to sign on to a movie can be a challenge, but that certainly wasn’t the case with the new film The Goldfinch.

It’s based on a book of the same name that isn’t just popular, it’s considered a modern classic, winning the 2013 Pulitzer Prize and even reclaiming the #1 spot on the New York Times Best Seller list just last week.

Several of the cast consider it incredibly special, but for Willa Fitzgerald the book is woven into her own story.

"I read it right when it came out," she tells Entertainment Weekly. "It was my first book that I took on the subway with me religiously when I moved to New York. So it has a very special place in my past. I just loved it. I remember hearing that it was going to be made into a movie and kind of just hoping and wishing I would maybe have a shot."

Well she certainly got a shot and made the most of it.

The Goldfinch is in theaters everywhere tomorrow.
