This pooch just achieved overnight stardom for a pitch-perfect high note that would leave the Princess of Pop speechless.
A hound named Riley went viral Saturday (July 21) when his owner, Matt Hardin, shared a video on Twitter of his dog howling what discernibly sounded like the hook to one of Britney Spears' iconic bops. "Is it just me or does Riley sound like he's singing 'Toxic' by Britney Spears?" Hardin captioned the clip of the wailing pup’s recognizable pitch.
We're convinced Hardin has a pop star pup on his hands, and so does Twitter. "When does the album drop??" one fan asked in response to the video, because, like, SAME. "B**CH IM SHOOK," chimed another, and we can also relate.
Listen to this doggy cry — on key! — similarly to the screechy chorus of "Toxic":
So how is Riley's master handling his canine's skyrocket to Internet fame? "At first I thought he was just howling at the storm that was rolling through, but when I re-watched the video, I noticed that the sound he was making was oddly familiar," Hardin told Teen Vogue. "After watching it like 30 times, I actually said out loud, 'Oh my God, Riley, were you just singing 'Toxic?!' and then I proceeded to freak out. He looked at me sideways at first, then jumped in my lap."
As for Riley's next vocal undertaking, Hardin said, "I'm gonna try to get him to learn some Taylor Swift," or possibly "another iconic classic like 'Single Ladies' by Beyoncé."
Does Riley have the range for Queen Bey and T-Swift? We think so.
