Jared Leto Wants to Join Our On-Air Team While Hitchhiking Across America

Best way to kick off a Monday? Have Jared Leto surprise you in-studio. The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman ran into Ryan and joined him for a spur-of-the-moment interview on Monday, April 2, and revealed he’ll be hitchhiking across America in promotion of their fifth studio album America.

“It’s a pretty big adventure. The album is called America and it comes out April 6 and to celebrate, I’m going to hitchhike, among other things, across the country from New York City to Los Angeles,” Jared explained to Ryan on-air after running into him. “I may jump on a donkey in the Grand Canyon or take a hot air balloon.”

Our fave free-spirited rocker isn’t scared to hitchhike, in fact he used to do it a lot as a little kid.

“I guess you always have to trust your instinct,” he told Ryan of hitchhiking 101. “If you get that look, that thousand yard stare … you should probably steer clear. But no, you meet a lot of interesting people and a lot of really kind people. As I tour across the country, as we are going to be doing in June and July in America, you see a lot of unity. You see a lot of things that are very different than what we might expect because what we hear on the news you see a lot of people getting along.”

While he’s out hitchhiking and meeting all kinds of people across the country, Jared wants to join our team -- no joke! He wants to be a Manny on the Streets sort of personality.

“I want to be your guy on the road,” Jared quipped.

And in all seriousness, we will hopefully be catching up with him. Stay tuned for when Jared hits the pavement and calls in from whichever Mack truck he ends up on!
