It’s official! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are engaged. The couple announced their engagement on Monday, November 27, via a statement from Kensington Palace.
The Prince of Wales also shared a statement through his own Clarence House twitter account, revealing that they’ll tie the knot in Spring 2018 and will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
Prince Harry proposed to Meghan earlier this month with a custom three-stone diamond ring. Two of the stones are from his late mother, Princess Diana‘s personal collection, while the other stone is from Botswana.
Botswana holds significance for Harry, who often refers to the country as his "second home."
He's previously reflected on Botswana's importance during his most formative years. "I first came in 1997, straight after my mum died," Harry has shared. "My dad told my brother and me we were going to Africa to get away from it all." (Meghan and Harry's first major vacation together was also to Botswana.)
The newly engaged couple debuted the ring on Monday morning in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden, where Meghan and Harry posed for official photos.
The couple first met in Toronto when Harry visited to promote his Invictus Games in May 2016. Meghan has been living in Toronto while filming hit USA show Suits.
