A 20-foot mural has been unveiled that pays tribute to the late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington on the wall of Sherman Oaks pizzeria Rock’n Pies Pizza Co. that overlooks L.A.'s 101 freeway. The mural depicts a smiling Bennington, shirtless with a halo-like light around his head.
Artist Jonas Never told Variety, 'I'd been seeing that big blank wall from the 101 and thought it would be good for something.' He also explained why he chose to depict Bennington smiling in the mural: "I stumbled across this publicity still of him, smiling, very recognizable, with all his tattoos visible." He continued, "I thought it would be better than having him up there screaming."
Bennington took his own life at the age of 41.
