Dan Buettner Talks New Netflix Doc 'Live to 100: Secrets of The Blue Zones'

Dan Buettner is back! He chatted with Ryan Seacrest on-air today to talk about his new Netflix documentary Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones and why it's resonating with so many people, especially those who have been focused on health and wellness, mainly longevity.

The "Blue Zones" are parts of the world where people tend to live the longest. Buettner's series focuses on tapping into each of these regions lessons on longevity.

Buettner tells Seacrest that there are 5 pillars of longevity

  • Whole grains
  • Whatever grows in your garden that season
  • Tubers
  • Snacking on nuts
  • A cup of beans a day

He also told Seacrest about the one sport people play that is known to have the highest life expectancy. He says racket sports, like tennis or pickleball, tends to give people the highest life expectancy because of the range of motion your body gets, the low likelihood of injury, and the social element of the sport.
