Are These TikTok Trends Safe or Unsafe to Try? March 2023 Edition

TikTok is becoming a guide to life. Need a restaurant? TikTok. Fashion idea? TikTok. Health hack? TikTok. But some of the tips are really unsafe. Let’s break down some of the recent trends:

USING A PASTA STRAINER TO DIFFUSE YOUR HAIR:

TIkTokers are blow-drying their hair with a fine mesh strainer to get more volume.

IS IT SAFE? No. You can burn yourself on the heated-up strainer and it’s not good for your hair, anyway.

ARMPIT DETOX:

This is basically a detoxifying mask for your pits made from apple cider vinegar or clay or coconut oil.

IS IT SAFE? Yes. It will cut down bacteria and clear away dead skin cells, but it won’t “extract toxins”.

BORGS (BLACKOUT RAGE GALLONS):

It’s a gallon jug with water, vodka, a flavor booster, caffeine and electrolytes (to avoid hangovers). The idea is you bring it to tailgate parties or all-day parties.

IS IT SAFE? No! It can lead to binge drinking.

EATING ORANGES IN THE SHOWER:

TikToker say oranges should be eaten in the shower because it lessens the stickiness, the aroma provides stress relief, and enhances the taste...

IS IT SAFE? YES! But still kind of weird.
