Online shopping makes it so easy to just keep spending sometimes. Everything is accessible from the palm of our hand through our phones.
As convenient as it is, it actually just makes it too convenient and we end up buying more than we need just because we see it and like it. If you had to get up to go to the store, we would probably think about it more and ultimately not buy it.
Ryan Seacrest shared the trick on-air for online shopping that may help reduce impulse buying and help you save money.
THE TEN-TEN-TEN TOOL
Before you hit “buy now” in your cart…
- Wait 10 minutes: give it a beat. Scroll through your social media. Watch a video. Turn off your phone.
- Think about how you’ll feel about that purchase in 10 weeks.
- Think about how you’ll feel about that purchase in 10 years.
If you second guess your purchase, especially if it’s a big one, you may be able to talk yourself out of it if it’s not a necessity.
