There was a time not very long ago when many studio executives in Hollywood assumed that a female-led superhero movie could never earn a billion dollars.
Then Captain Marvel happened and the Brie Larson starrer shattered that conception raking in over $1.1 billion globally, making it the fifth biggest film of 2019.
So it’s no real shock that Disney is bringing back Brie for another go as the most powerful hero in the Marvel universe.
Deadline has confirmed that Captain Marvel 2 is officially in development and negotiations with writer are already in the works.
The original Capital Marvel was the first film of the twenty-two Marvel movies to have as female hero in the lead role, but with its massive success it’s a safe bet there will be plenty more down the road.
