The Inductees for the Songwriters Hall of Fame Are…

Oftentimes the unsung heroes of music industry are the songwriters who craft the songs behind-the-scenes.

That said, some of our best songwriters are also superstars in their own right and many of this year’s inductees for the Songwriters Hall of Fame reflect that.

The class of 2020 was just announced and topping the list is one of the biggest pop stars in history, Mariah Carey.

She wrote or cowrote eighteen of her nineteen #1 hits including "Butterfly," "Honey," "Dreamlover" and her holiday classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You."

The Neptunes, A.K.A. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, will also be honored for defining the sound of the early 2000s crafting hits for Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Jay Z and dozens of others.

70s icons The Isley Brothers and Steve Miller, plus 80s new wave legends The Eurythmics' Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart round out the big names being honored.

In case you’re wondering, the only #1 Mariah had that she didn’t write was her cover of The Jackson 5’s "I'll Be There" from her MTV Unplugged performance.
