Scarlett Johansson’s next film is a big departure from her recent stint in The Avengers.
She is returning to her indie roots with a new movie called Marriage Story, which is actually more about a divorce and as Scarlett met with the director to talk about the role she was in the midst of a divorce herself.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter when she sat down with him she had no idea what the movie was about, explaining:
"I just blew into the room and ordered a glass of white wine and started complaining, and he was just listening and very attentive. And then he kind of cut it short and said, 'Funny you should mention it.'"
The director was going through a divorce himself and wrote the tale based on his own experience. Scarlett adds the role felt fated and came to her at the prefect time.
Marriage Story hits Netflix December 6th.
