Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Steps Up to Fight for His Home State

There’s a growing resistance in Hawaii to putting a telescope on top of the islands’ tallest mountain Mauna Kea.

Protesters have gathered to halt construction on the land, which is considered sacred by many native Hawaiians, and on the tenth day of the protest to protect that Hawaiian mountain and they were supported by another famous Hawaiian, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The superstar who grew up in Honolulu, explained why offering his support was so important to him.

"It is much more than a telescope, it is people who have so much pride and are willing to sacrifice everything they have to protect something that is so incredibly sacred to them," he told reporters."It’s humanity. It’s culture. Mauna Kea represents all of Hawaii."

Dwayne can next be seen revving it up in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw in theaters August 2.
