Some of the most legendary artists in hop hop have seen their stories spun into scripted entertainment over the past few years including NWA’s Straight Outta Compton, Tupac’s All Eyez on Me and Biggie Smalls’ Notorious and one of New York’s most legendary MC crews is next.
Hulu is creating a new show called Wu-Tang: An American Saga, which tells the story of the Staten Island MCs uniting and taking over world against all odds at the height of the 90s crack epidemic.
The show is unique in that it won’t be entirely true to history. It’s based on their story, but will take liberties and expand on it.
For instance, Dave East, an MC in his own right known as Nas’ protégée will play a character named Shotgun, who is basically Method Man, but not him.
The show is expected to begin shooting in the coming months.
