It’s official! Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson made it Instagram official on Wednesday, May 30, just days after reports surfaced the songstress and Saturday Night Live funnyman, both 24, are dating.
“The chamber of secrets has been opened …,” Davidson captioned a photo of him and Grande dressed in matching Harry Potter robes. Davidson can be seen wearing a Gryffindor sweater while Grande dons a Slytherin one.
Grande commented on the post "u tryna slytherin (I'm deleting my account now)."
The witty post comes on the heels of multiple outlets confirming the duo are indeed a couple and following the news of Grande’s split from Mac Miller. (Davidson has also since split from Cazzie David after two years together.)
The “No Tears Left to Cry” songstress took to social media to comment on her split from Miller following his recent DUI after she was slammed by a commenter on social media who wrote that Miller found himself in legal trouble because of their failed romance.
"How absurd that you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship,” she responded to the commenter at the time. "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for him for years."
Davidson also had to take to social media to defend his relationship with Grande after some pointed out that she shouldn’t date him because of his battle with borderline personality disorder.
“Normally i wouldn’t comment on something like this cause like f--k you. but i been hearing a lot of ‘people with bpd can’t be in relationships’ talk,” he shared on social media at the time. “I just wanna let you know that’s not true. just because someone has a mental illness does not mean they can’t be happy and in a relationship. it also doesn’t mean that person makes the relationship toxic.”
He continued: “Everybody is different and there are a lot of treatments for mental illnesses and I have done/am doing all of them. And I encourage those who struggle to seek help as well it has changed my life for the better.”
Grande is next set to perform at iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango presented by AT&T at Los Angeles brand new Banc of California Stadium on June 2. The star-studded event, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, also includes performances by Shawn Mendes, Meghan Trainor, 5 Seconds of Summer, NF, Miguel, Janelle Monáe and Marshmello with a special guest performance by Logic, and the Backstreet Boys.
