John Stamos Talks Fatherhood for First Time, Details Wife's Easy Delivery

No longer just an Uncle! John Stamos phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, April 19, just days after welcoming his first child, son Billy, with wife Caitlin McHugh and we’re seriously swooning.

The first-time dad, who is hosting WE Day in Los Angeles, gushed over his wife and dished on the first few days of parenthood.

“We just kind of crammed everything in because it’s been so great,” the Full House alum said of getting engaged, married and pregnant within the past few months. “It’s so beautiful having a baby. You have to do it, Ryan.”

Stamos joked that since having baby Billy, “everything is greener and bluer.”

“I’m looking out the window right now and … I see all kinds of different colors. Different poop colors,” he joked. “There’s green, there’s yellow, I saw some blue this morning which I thought was weird. No, you know, people are probably sick of me saying I always wanted a kid but it just happened and I guess I was waiting for the perfect wife, which I have. Caitlin, she’s been so graceful through this whole thing. I hope you [Sisanie] have a delivery like she did because it was about 20 minutes. A little baby came out and he looked just like Don Rickles.”

The couple, who got engaged at Disneyland in October and tied the knot this past February, welcomed Billy over the weekend.

“From now on, the best part of me will always be my wife and my son. Welcome Billy Stamos (named after my father),” Stamos, 54, captioned a photo of the newborn nestled on his chest to announce the happy news on April 15. “#NotJustanUncleAnymore #Overjoyed.”

Stamos shared with Ryan that he indeed wanted to honor his late father, William “Bill” John Stamos.

“I named him after my father who was my hero,” Stamos shared on-air. “I hope I live up to what my dad did. … He was always bigger than life to me so I’m happy to honor him with our little Billy. I’m starting to cry right now, Ryan, I’m so emotional.”

The actor’s first gig as a new dad is hosting WE Day, a celebration for children and people making change in the world.

“I thought [March for Our Lives] changed everything and it made me feel, like, ‘Oh! Good, my son is going to grow up in a decent world with kids like those.’ I was so blown away by all that,” Stamos said while discussing his involvement with WE Day, which also includes performances and appearances by Selena Gomez, Jennifer Aniston, Will Ferrell, The Chainsmokers, Dierks Bentley and more.
