There's a new head coach in town!!
Last week, the Chargers announced they hired a new head coach! And being the lifelong Chargers fan that I am, I wanted to make sure we all knew a little about Coach Brandon Staley before he starts leading our Chargers to victory next season.
After the announcement was made, the Chargers Instagram account shared photos of Coach Staley and his family's first visit to Chargers HQ, and I'm already obsessed with them!
So here's everything you need to know about Coach Staley.
He's not new to Los Angeles! In fact, he's making a move to head coach of the Chargers from none other than the Rams where he was the defensive coordinator during the 2020 season. Before that, though, he was the assistant coach for the Denver Broncos and the Chicago Bears.
He's young! There's been a new wave of younger head coaches in recently years, and Coach Staley will be among them! At 38 years old, he's just a touch older than the Rams head coach, Sean McVay who is 34.
He's married! Sorry ladies... he's younger and kind of cute! But he has been married to his wife Amy since 2011, and they have three sons, Colin, Will and Grant (who are adorable in the photos above!)
He's a Sagittarius! He was born December 10, 1982. If you're not familiar with horoscopes, Sagittarius traits include being optimistic, hilarious, fair-minded, honest and intellectual. They're also known for being spontaneous and fun - which sounds like a GREAT combo of traits for a head coach.
And if you're wondering why the Chargers ultimately went with Coach Staley over any of the other qualified options... it has to do with the fact that Brandon has an ability to connect with people, adapt his philosophy to the team and effectively implement his vision.
