This Is What Gisele Bündchen Prefers To Be Called Over 'Step Mom'

US-ENTERTAINMENT-FASHION-METGALA

If you have a family that may not look completely traditional - step parents, step siblings, half siblings, whatever it may be - then this is your time to shine: because you can officially relate to super model Gisele Bündchen.

As most of us know, Gisele is married to Tom Brady, who is known as one of the greatest football quarterbacks of all time (whether you like the Patriots or not!) Before Tom and Gisele were married, Tom had 12-year-old son John “Jack” Edward Thomas with ex Bridget Moynahan.

Yesterday, Gisele was asked, while answering questions on Instagram stories, how she felt about being a "step mom" to Jack. And her answer is so sweet and may give you a little perspective on your own "non-traditional" family.

Gisele revealed that she doesn't like the word "step mom" when it comes to parenting. Instead, she shared:

“I like the word ‘bonus mom’ because I feel like it’s a blessing in my life. I feel so lucky that I got to have an extra wonderful little angel in my life.”

Gisele and Tom got married in 2009, meaning Gisele has been a part of Jack's life for most of his life. The couple also have son Benjamin Rein, 10, and daughter Vivian Lake, 7 together.

"Bonus mom" is the perfect way to put it. "Step" can feel so removed, but when you're fully a part of that child's life, why not call yourself a "bonus mom"!

In the same question and answer on Instagram, Gisele talked about how she and Tom manage their time with the kids.

“I think we just try our best to be present with the kids when we are with the kids... I think it’s not so much [about] the amount of time. I think it’s the quality of time.”

She also stressed that what's important is the "energy" around the kids, saying she and Tom are constantly giving them hugs and kisses. I can totally relate to this! I know parenting is hard and none of us are perfect, but if you make sure your kids know they are loved, at least you're doing one thing right!
