Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson ’s production company that he runs with his ex-wife Dany Garcia is famously called 7 Bucks Productions, because that was all he had in his pocket when he was cut from the Canadian Football League before his wrestling and film careers took off.
That was a pivotal moment in his life, but in a new interview in The Hollywood Reporter, Dwayne reveals the day they founded 7 Bucks was just as important.
It was 2007 and he simultaneously made a bold decision to leave one powerful Hollywood agency for another, explaining:
"It was at a time where I stopped conforming to what I was told Hollywood needed me to be. I couldn't look the way I look, couldn't talk about wrestling, couldn't work out as much, had to slim down, couldn't make it about masculinity. Finally, I said, 'Well, I'm not that, and I can't be that.' I did a full, clean sweep, everybody out.”
Even though his romance with Dany was falling apart he knew she had incredible business acumen and his trust. They have worked together ever since.
