Ben Affleck is apologizing for acting “inappropriately” towards One Tree Hill actress Hilarie Burton. In a statement posted to Twitter on Wednesday, October 11, the Oscar winner addressed Hilarie’s claims that he once groped her during an appearance on TRL in 2013.
“I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize,” Ben tweeted.
The story resurfaced after Ben weighed in on the allegations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. After a fan suggested that Ben should have “kept quiet,” another Twitter user weighed in and wrote: “He also grabbed Hilarie Burton’s breasts on TRL once. Everyone forgot though.”
“I didn’t forget,” Hilarie replied to the tweet.
The actress also shared a clip recalling the moment. “He comes over and tweaks my left boob,” she can be heard recalling in outtakes.
“I had to laugh back then so I wouldn’t cry,” Hilarie tweeted. “Sending love.”
