Lizzo Quits Twitter, 'Too Many Trolls' To Blame

102.7 KIIS FM Jingle Ball – SHOW

Lizzo is staying off of Twitter for a while.

We’re only one week into the new year, and the “Good As Hell” musician has already announced she’s taking a break from social media thanks to her detractors. "Yeah I can’t do this Twitter s—t no more.. too many trolls," Lizzo tweeted late last night (January 5). "I’ll be back when I feel like it."

It’s anyone’s guess what exactly was the final straw for the pop star, who has been onslaughted with hate from Twitter trolls recently for everything from her choice of attire (i.e. her chaps-esque ensemble at the Lakers game) to her body size.

As we previously reported, Lizzo’s last Twitter spat was in December with Dr. Boyce Watkins, who claimed her popularity was due to the “obesity epidemic in America.”

"Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are … Unfortunately, Many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease,” he added, to which the “Truth Hurts” vocalist answered with a vicious clapback.

“I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love. The only person who needs to do better is you," she wrote. "Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me. Here’s the attention you ordered 😏."

Despite the amount of hate she's received, Lizzo's fans are making sure she knows their love is louder. "Please know for every troll, there are so many genuine fans here to show love and support. We've got your back QUEEN! Hope you come back to us soon!” one fan tweeted.
