Katy Perry Reveals How She & Taylor Swift Became Friends Again

The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards - Salute To Icons Honoring Doug Morris - Backstage and Audience

Katy Perry is so glad she and Taylor Swift put their bad blood behind them.

Perry appeared on Wednesday's episode (September 18) of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to speak about everything from her relationship with soon-to-be husband Orlando Bloom, perform her brand new single "Small Talk," and of course, dish on how she famously rekindled her friendship with the "Lover" superstar.

The tension all started with a "misunderstanding," Perry explained. However, things started to look up between the pop stars last summer when the "Never Really Over" musician officially reached out to her longtime frenemy with an actual olive branch and a note of apology for their so-called feud.

“And then we started seeing each other out and about, and I just would walk up to her and say, ‘Hey, how are you?’” she recalled to host Ellen DeGeneres. “It’s like we have so much in common, there’s probably only 10 people in the world that have the same things in common. I was like, ‘We should really be friends over that and share our strengths and our weaknesses and our challenges.’”

The songbirds' friendly reconciliation didn't stop there, though. After declaring "peace at last" over a plate of freshly-baked cookies earlier this year, the songstress' broke the internet when the two hugged it out in Swift's music video for "You Need to Calm Down."
